Dr.
Winford L. Hendrix,
Transition Pastor

Dr. Winford L. Hendrix, was born and reared
in Florida and is a graduate of Samford University,
Birmingham, Alabama; Southern Baptist Theological Seminary,
Louisville, Kentucky; and Union Theological Seminary,
Richmond, Virginia. He is married to the former Carol Heard
of Atlanta, Georgia. They have three adult children who
live with their families in Atlanta, Virginia Beach, and
Houston. Carol and Winford find it hard to believe that they
have eight grandchildren!

After serving on the staff and as pastor of churches in
Indiana, Mississippi, Virginia, Tennessee and Florida, Dr.
Hendrix, in 1994, received specialized training in
Intentional Interim Ministry through the Center for
Congregational Health, a ministry of the School of Pastoral
Care, Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Since that time he has served as the Intentional Interim
Pastor/Consultant with The First Baptist Church of
Clarendon, Arlington, Virginia and Viewmont Baptist Church,
Hickory, North Carolina. He has served as the Interim
Senior Pastor of The First Baptist Church of the City of
Washington, D.C. and Vienna Baptist Church, Vienna,
Virginia. He has served as the Transition Pastor of the
First Baptist Church of New Bern, North Carolina; Columbia
Baptist Church, Falls Church, Virginia; Crescent Hill
Baptist Church, Louisville, Kentucky; the First Baptist
Church of Fort Myers, Florida; and the First Baptist Church
of Galax, Virginia.

Over
the years, Dr. Hendrix has served on the board of directors
for a number of religious organizations, as well as hospital
and civic organizations, and on two different occasions was
Chair of the Board of Directors for the Center for
Congregational Health.

Carol
and Winford enjoy meeting new people, spending time with
friends, and exploring the areas where they live and
serve…including the local restaurants! Golf is at the top
of Winford’s list of hobbies. |

Rev. Allen York,
Pastor of Music and Worship

Allen York started his
ministry as Pastor of Music and Worship on March 8, 2004. He
is a graduate of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar,
Missouri and holds a Masters of Church Music Degree from
Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville,
Kentucky. While at Southern, he received the Phyllis Heeren
Outstanding Music Student Award.
Before coming to Viewmont, Allen served at First Baptist
Church in Aurora, Missouri, First Baptist Church in
Taylorsville, Kentucky, First Baptist Church in Lee’s
Summit, Missouri, and most recently at First Baptist Church
Oklahoma City.

Allen recently made a CD entitled, The Call to Worship with
Joseph M. Martin consisting of music that leads one through
a worship service.

Allen loves to fly fish, read and play basketball.

He is married to Shirel, who graduated from Southwest
Baptist University with a degree in Church Recreation. They
have two sons, James and Michael. |

Rev. Sandi Hood, Pastor of Youth and Families

Sandi Hood
re-joined the Viewmont staff as full time Pastor of Youth
and Families in April, 2005. She also served as Pastor of
Youth and Families for Viewmont from April 1998 until
January 2002. Sandi did her undergraduate work in journalism
at UNC-Chapel Hill and was employed for a number a years by
the
News and
Observer in Raleigh and
The
Charlotte
Observer
before surrendering to a call to ministry. She received a
Master’s of Divinity in Pastoral Care and Counseling from
the School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb University in May,
2005.

She enjoys a variety of activities in her spare time
including writing, art, theatre, and traveling. Sandi is
married to local attorney David Hood, who is also a graduate
of UNC-Chapel Hill and an identical twin. They have two
wonderful children – Wilson and Callie. |

Rev.
Kathy Naish, Pastor of Spiritual Formation

Rev. Kathy Naish is the Pastor of Spiritual Formation for
children and adults. She holds a Master of Divinity from
Gardner-Webb University School of Divinity. She and her
husband Tim live in Lincolnton, NC. Kathy and Tim have two
adult children, Jack and Hannah.
